ABOUT THE TEAM: In 2008, this Hurricanes finished in 3rd place in the Classic bracket at the AAU Division II Nationals in New Haven, CT. The 12U Hurricanes are coached by three former college players in Jonathan Scruggs, Freddie Newman-Blount and Lillian Drumgold (also a former Hurricane). The 2009 season will be head coach Jonathan Scruggs’ 6th AAU season and 3rd with the Hurricanes. Coach Scruggs spent three seasons as a coach with the Dayton Lady Hoopstars in Dayton, OH. Coach Scruggs has coached in four (3 Division I and one Division II AAU) national championship tournaments in five seasons. Coach Scruggs also has five former players currently playing college basketball at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels. The goal for the 2009 12U Hurricanes is to compete for the 12U Maryland District AAU championship and qualify for AAU Division I Nationals. |
